Comparing Perinatal Outcome in Twin and Singleton Pregnancies Regarding Doppler Evaluation of Uterine Artery Indices in the Second Trimester
Authors
Abstract:
Background: Prediction of adverse perinatal and postnatal outcomes could be possible by using ultrasound Doppler evaluation, however there are some controversies regarding this issue in the literature. The goal of present study was to evaluate predictive value of Doppler indices in single and twin pregnancies during second trimester. Materials and Methods: This prospective study was conducted in Yas Hospital, Tehran, between February 2015 and January 2016. The number of 71 singleton pregnancies and 59 twin pregnancies enrolled in this study. A single expert perinatalogist / sonographer did all Doppler ultrasound exams and followed up cases until the end of pregnancy. To compare Doppler indices and pre-postnatal outcomes between singleton and twin groups, the Student’s t-test, Pearson χ2 test and Fisher’s exact test were used for continue and categorical variables, respectively. Results: Rates of preterm delivery and SGA were significantly higher in twin pregnancies compared with singletons (P

The Role of Uterine Artery Doppler Ultrasound in the Second Trimester in Predicting Preeclampsia
Background Preeclampsia is a specific pregnancy syndrome. Early diagnosis and proper administration of preeclampsia can lead to improved maternal and neonatal outcome. We aimed to investigate the uterine artery Doppler ultrasound in predicting the preeclampsia in women with a high-risk pregnancy. Materials and Methods This analytic study was conducted on 160 primigravida women with gestational...
full textPerinatal Outcome in Multiple versus Singleton Pregnancies in Neonates Born in Fatemieh Hospital of Hamadan, Iran
Background: Multiple pregnancies are responsible for the increased risk of maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to compare the perinatal outcome between multiple and singleton pregnancies. Materials and Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. A sample of 50 multiple birth neonates- born in Fatemieh Hospital of Hamadan, Iran in 2015- was selected using simple r...
full textReference ranges for Doppler assessment of uterine artery resistance and pulsatility indices in dichorionic twin pregnancies.
OBJECTIVES To construct reference ranges of uterine artery Doppler parameters against gestation in twin pregnancies and to present charts of the pulsatility index (PI) and resistance index (RI) for clinical use. METHODS This was an observational study of the uterine circulation in 557 women with dichorionic twin pregnancies at 17-38 weeks' gestation. Uterine artery measurements were performed...
full textValue of Third Trimester Uterine Artery Doppler in High-risk Pregnancies for Prediction of Adverse Perinatal Outcome
Objective: To determine the usefulness of uterine artery Doppler in evaluation of third trimester high-risk pregnancies in prediction of adverse perinatal outcome. Methods: In this prospective study uterine artery Doppler parameters such as PI and early diastolic notch were recorded in a group of 60 high-risk pregnancies mainly consisting of pre-eclampsia and small for gestational age. Uterine ...

OBJECTIVE To examine the role of second-trimester uterine artery Doppler in the prediction of stillbirths. METHODS Uterine artery pulsatility index (PI) was measured at 20-24 weeks' gestation in 65,819 singleton pregnancies. The PI was converted to multiples of median (MoM) and compared in live births and stillbirths. Regression analysis was used to determine the significance of association b...
full textUterine artery Doppler study in second trimester of pregnancy
INTRODUCTION The uterine artery Doppler has potentials for screening for complications of impaired placentation. This study examines the indices of uterine artery impedance at 22-23 weeks gestation and their relationship with maternal age and parity. METHODS Uterine artery colour imaging and pulsed wave Doppler ultrasound was conducted between 22nd and 23rd weeks in 430 pregnancies. The pregn...
